Few important notes are given below:

The above given dates are compiled for ready reference only, however, one has to match these dates with the ‘janma naam’,

‘janam kundali’ – horoscopes of the groom – var (boy) and the bride (girl) – vadhu (badhu), ‘Vivāhe Ravi-Guru-Chandra balam’ and other planetary positions for calculating auspicious marriage dates and its events. Therefore, one has to consult an Astrologer or Pandit before finalizing the dates of wedding.

1. The wedding should be avoided during the fortnight of the ancestors called ‘Pitra Paksha’, same is also known as ‘Mahalaya Paksha’ ‘Shradh Paksha’. Marriage is not recommended when Venus and Jupiter planets are combust – ‘asta’. Brihaspati – GuruGraha and Sukra – Shukra Asta combust dates; and also the start and end dates of the Pitra Paksha are given herewith for Samvat 2075-2076 year 2018-19 for India, HK and worldwide.

Hathyaalo is a custom of tying of a hand of couple with sacred thread in a Sindhi ritual.

Gathbandhan is a ritual of tying the couple with sacred bond. It is followed by the most of the Hindus in Bharat (India), Hong Kong and worldwide.

The Vivah is a Sanskrit word. a) मुहूर्त​: MUHURTHA, Shubha Lagna meaning: “Muhurtha means auspicious. In astrology, Muhurtha comprehends the selection of auspicious times for every new event and hence, we could interpret muhurtha as being equivalent in the English word election”. “We call such an auspicious moment, when all the beneficial ethereal currents are called into operation, Shubha Lagna” (Shri B. V. Raman-ji).

“A moment, any short portion of time, a period, a time (auspicious), a period of 48 minutes.”

 

Broadly speaking, there are two ways, the first one is the ‘muhurat formation’ of the various day’s wedding muhuratha (marriage lagna auspicious date, time and other detail preparations such as different sapta doshas lata-aadi, etc.) i.e. is establishing the general muhuratham of a particular day in general. Then the second one is the matching of the said muhuratas with the particular bride and groom’s details of birth name, birth charts and other details. Hence, the earlier system is the primary and most important one calculative part in applying various astrology elements; and then the later system of taking out muhurata (matching muhurata), is the secondary one. Though both systems apply the deep calculative methods, making no room for the miscalculations. So, such a skillful subject to be dealt with highest care! Both have their own importance for a Hindu wedding muhuratham, but, first one has the foremost significance than the second one and its knowledge is rare; and even rarest when perfection is the need of the subject. Because, base should be proper. One may find many tipno, panchangs, calendars, almanacs for the muhuratas; but the degree of an information, knowledge and an authencity has its greater role to play. Briefly to say, in other words, former is a foundation of a ‘making of muhurata(s)’ and later is a ‘matching of the muhurata’ based on the basic and essential foundational details of the former. Furthermore, one has to note not to confuse the subject of matching of muhurata (taking out muhuratas of an auspicious wedding date) with the matching of the horoscope of the couple. Both are two different aspects. Herewith, we are not talking details of the formation of the muhurata and matching of horoscopes (Match Making).

 

But, in this article, we have focused and emphasized on the Hindu wedding ceremony Shubh muhuratas. The reason for this is that most of the time one is looking for the ready made, ready references of the auspicious Hindu marriage ceremony dates – shubh muhuratas.

b) लग्नं Lagnam: meaning in the Sanskrit dictionary of Apteji reads,

1. “The point of contact or intersection, the point where the horizon and the ecliptic or the path of planets meet”.
2. “The point of the ecliptic which at any given time is at the horizon or on the meridian”.
3. “An auspicious or lucky moment”. 4. “(Hence), a decisive moment, time for action”.

e) लग्न शुद्धि: Lagna Shuddhi meaning, “auspiciousness of the zodiac signs for the performance of any work”.

Astrologically, whether Guna-Melan (Match Making) of Bride and Groom Janmaakshar (horoscope) or taking out Vivah Muhurat (Wedding Dates) Janma nakshatra (birth star – constellation) or lunar sign has due importance. Each 13⁰.20’ (⁰ is read as ‘d’ degree) of the ecliptic, is a nakshatra or a lunar sign. Combustion occurs when any planet comes closer degrees in same line of the ecliptic of the Sun.
This can affect that planet(s) which are in intimate conjunction with the Sun.

h) An auspicious tithi, day, date is fixed for the wedding ceremonies considering astrology and astronomy points. Astrological considerations of marriage were generally very simple for an auspicious day that firstly h.i) when sun was in the northern hemisphere and secondly h.ii) in the bright half of a month is good for vivah. Whereas, also astrological works are very particular about fixing the ‘proper time’ of tithi, vaar, nakshatra, day, date and time, etc. for every ‘detail’ of the marriage ceremony muhurat. Both detailed and simple considerations has its own importance. But, the earlier is followed most. And as such, we have herewith focused accordingly some related details for this subject. To take out the auspicious time for marriage is called a marriage Mahurata. It is very popular in HK, Bharat – India and among Hindus all over the world. Thus, one looks at the planetary positions, planets, tithi amongst many things to derive the auspicious day date – tithi, star and its time for solemnizing marriage.

i) How to take out proper Wedding Shubh Muhurat and its requirements for arriving at muhuratham?

Marrying couple’s Date of Birth, Time, Place, Birth name is important including running name. This helps to locate Proper Moon Sign (Janma Nakshatra star i.e. birth time constellation or lunar sign), also wedding day’s and other accurate details for calculating Hindu auspicious wedding day, date of (Shubh Vivah Muhurata).
Generally, all three nakshatras (constellations) Uttarā Fālguni, Uttarā Shādhā, Uttarā Bhādrapadā; Rohini, Mrigashirā, Maghā (Makhā), Swāti, Anurādhā, Moolā are favourable for wedding muhurta.

What is the significane of Abhijit nakshatrama and Gau-Dhooli its use for the muhuratham?

j) अभिजित् Abhijit : “An asterism or the Muhûrta indicated by it”. In the Vedic nakshatras, Abhijit is mentioned and including Abhijit nakshatra, there are 28 nakshatras.

मुहूर्ते ऽ भिजिते प्राप्ते सार्धरात्रे विभूषिते ।
देवक्यजन यद्विष्णुं यशोदा तां तु कन्यकां ॥

अभिजित मुहूर्त Abhijit Muhurtha ​: “The best time would be 12 noon when the Sun will be most powerful and this is called Abhijit Muhurtha”. अभिजित मुहूर्त: “the 8^th Muhûrta or period comprising 24 minutes before and 24 minutes after noon”.

There is another muhurat called गौ-धूलि Gau-dhuli. It has also an importance while taking out muhurat. Thus, applying various traditions, rules, rituals, customs, shāstras to find out auspicious muhurat suitable for marriage.

Note B. : Hence, though complicated and time consuming; but, through thoroughness, one has to take sincere efforts for Wedding auspicious dates. And for this, there are a lot of points which one has to check carefully, so as to observe the significance of the Shubh Vivah Muhuratas, Shubh Lagnam. – पुरुषोत्तम मास (अधिकमास): १६ मई २०१८ से १३ जून २०१८ तक अधिकमास रहने से एक माह विवाह निषिद्ध रहेंगे ।

– चातुर्मास, देवशयनी एकादशी: २३ जुलाई २०१८ आषाढ़ शुक्ल एकादशी के दिन देवशयनी एकादशी होने के कारण चातुर्मास प्रारंभ हो जाएगा जो १९ नवंबर २०१८ तक चलेगा ।

– गुरु अस्त : इस बीच १३ नवंबर से ८ दिसंबर २०१८ तक गुरु अस्त रहने के कारण विवाह नहीं हो पाएंगे ।

– धनुर्मास (मलमास): १६ दिसंबर २०१८ से १४ जनवरी २०१९ तक धनुर्मास या मलमास है ।
