यह लगातार दूसरा वर्ष है जब आषाढ़ी पूर्णिमा पर भारत एवं हाँगकाँग​ में चंद्र ग्रहण है । साथ​–साथ इसदिन गुरु पूर्णिमा भी है । यह खंडग्रास चंद्रग्रहण होगा । यह ग्रहण पूर्वाषाढ़ा/उत्तराषाढ़ा नक्षत्र एवं धनु/मकर राशि पर होगा । धनु राशि चंद्रमा है । धनु राशि में ग्रहण होने के कारण इस राशिवाले विशेष रूप से प्रभावित होंगे । धनु राशि के लोग ग्रहण के समय विष्णु सहस्त्रनाम का पाठ करें, गाय को हरा-चारा खिलाए । इसदिन​ पूर्वाषाढ़ा, उत्तराषाढ़ा नक्षत्र, वैधृति योग तथा विष्टि परं बव​ करण है ।
